SLOWTORCH formed in early 2004 as a five piece called Godmachine and released their first four-track demo Generator in May 2004.
Godmachine were immediately well received, also because of their resolve to rely exclusively on their own material. Despite this being an unusual approach for emerging bands looking for live appearances, their decision paid off, as they were asked to play a number of gigs throughout 2004. The highlight of Godmachine's musical career came right away, when they open the stage for Ill Niño at a local festival.
In September 2005, Godmachine become SLOWTORCH and enter the studio once again to record (Go Down In) Style for Get Stoned, Vol. I, a sampler released by the now defunct local label Morgana Records. The recording marks the band's move to a new and evolved sound, bringing Generator's straight metal sound towards a groovier, more innovative style.
In 2006, SLOWTORCH release their promo CD, Scrap Metal & Oil Stains, which quickly sells out in another year of touring throughout Europe. Also, there are several requests from radio stations in the US and Germany to play the band’s material. Through Pillars of Eternity Management, long-time fan Stefano Nardelli starts promoting SLOWTORCH, as he continues to do even now, although PoE disbanded in 2008.
Between late 2006 and early 2007, SLOWTORCH play support slots for Nick Oliveri’s Mondo Generator, Dutch heavyweights Toner Low and German krautrockers Colour Haze.
On Friday, July 13th 2007, SLOWTORCH release their first full length album, Adding Fuel To Fire, available in stores, from the band and distributed through CDBABY – an occasion duly celebrated with a Release Party in front of a packed house.
Adding Fuel To Fire is well received and gets excellent reviews in national and international print and web media. Currently, radio stations in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Canada and the US are playing material from both the album and earlier releases.
In November and December '07, SLOWTORCH embark on a tour through Germany and Italy.
In April and May 2008 they take part in Italy’s Metal Battle and finished 3rd against 89 competing acts. In July 2008, US-based label 272 records includes SLOWTORCH on their KILL CITY 10 compilation.
In January 2009, SLOWTORCH release their new EP From Radiation They Came to excellent reviews. The EP is available through CDBABY and is being played on various web radios in Europe and the US.
In April 2009, the band supports Danish rockers Volbeat in Italy and then goes on to appear at various festivals and clubs throughout the summer and autumn, play a succesful UK tour in October 09 that taskes SLOWTORCH and UK metallers Gods of Hellfire through Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford and London.
In early 2010, recording sessions for new material had already started when vocalist Peter decided to leave the band. True to their spirit, SLOWTORCH kept going and soon managed to find a worthy replacement - enter Matteo Mela Meloni, former singer of Bolzano stoner rockers La Pelle and Marasma. He is currently busy recording the vocal parts of the band's upcoming EP.
June/July 2010 saw SLOWTORCH play various festivals and play a successful tour through Northern Italy.
