Adding fuel to fire, si ce n'est pas tout un programme ça, autant aller se recoucher. On enfourne la galette dans le mange-disques, on pousse un peu les enceintes, on se cale bien au fond du fauteuil, on appuie sur play et on attend. Et comme les Slowtorch sont du genre serviables, on n'attend pas vraiment longtemps. Dès "Another one down", les guitares crachent leur venin sous forme de riffs brûlants comme l'enfer, les "vocals" se font rugueux et ravageurs avant que la section rythmique ne passe derrière nettoyer ce qu'il reste de survivant(s). 2'40'' de grosse mandale stoner rock incandescente aux effluves métalliques et au groove sulfurique qui sent l'alcool et le bitume, rien à redire, ça bute sec. On s'enquille la piste audio suivante, titrée "Dirt track" et c'est reparti plein gaz. Une petite seconde au compteur de plus que le premier morceau, les Slowtorch font dans le précis qui tamponne, le rock sévèrement burné qui arrache. Poussant le vice jusqu'à prolonger un titre jusqu'à deux minutes et quarante quatre secondes (les fous...), les italiens enquillent les brûlots stoner métalliques au groove rock'n roll dément ("Roadkill", "Sixwheeler") et nous emportent avec.
Elevés au son des Crowbar et Corrosion of Confirmity, sensibles à la virilité de Nick Oliveri (ex-QOTSA, Mondo Generator), les gaziers ici-présents ont bien appris leurs leçons et les retranscrivent avec un sens du riffs "de tueur" qui fait mâl(e). Une prod bien grasse, un son épais et âpre, les décibels restent collés aux enceintes et le groupe appuie à fond sur la pédale d'accélérateur dans un "Rocket to Nebula 6" enfumé par les gaz d'échappement. On se dit alors que Slowtorch va finir par perdre un peu de sa puissance à l'impact et au lieu de ça, on se prend une vague de 2e lignes en pleine face. Autant dire qu'on se relève pas comme ça d'un tel placage ("Juggernaut"). Le feeling est énorme, la mécanique parfaitement huilée et le groupe joue les grosses cylindrées pour faire passer son message. Un petit côté sludge sur les bords, une bonne rasade de stoner brut des familles, juste un petit soupçon de punk et on s'enfile ça cul sec. Effet garanti que ce disque furieusement compact mais jamais répétitif, un effort corrosif à souhait qui se dévore à n'importe qu'elle heure de la journée avec un appétit vorace. Et pour cause, Adding fuel to fire, c'est 7 titres pour 22 minutes (seulement !) d'un cocktail rock'n roll hautement éthylique et foutrement bien gaulé.

Italy has been producing some great bands recently and Slowtorch are no exception. Slowtorch have been around since early 2004 (although, at that time, they were known as Godmachine - I just thought I'd throw in that bit of trivia for you!) and "Adding Fuel to the Fire" is their most recent released.

So, what do Slowtorch bring to the table? The answer to that is simple, a combination of Rock and Metal that is reminiscent of (but never straight out copying) bands like Motorhead and, in some places, they have have the attitude of Pantera. They would also appeal to fans of more modern bands - such as Germany's President Evil (now, that would be a tour line-up made in Metal Heaven!). This kind of music is perfect for sinking a few beers to and then headbanging the night away.

Now for the track by track...

The CD opens with "Another One Down" and it proves itself to be a great way to kick things off. It's straightforward and damn catchy. This is a hugely enjoyable slice of rock 'n' roll 'n' metal!

"Dirt Track" continues with that same vibe and it follows on from the previous track effortlessly. This track just makes me wanted to head to the nearest Rock Bar and let my hair down... so much so that the cup of tea that I'm drinking at the moment just doesn't seem appropriate!

I love the guitar right at the beginning of "Roadkill" and I have the curious urge to shout along with the "want some more" part.

"Sixwheeler" is my favourite track on "Adding Fuel to the Fire". There's just something about it that hooked me in immediately. It may not be as in-your-face as "Roadkill" or "Another One Down", but it certainly manages to pack it's own punch... and it even closes with a cool classic rock sounding vibe.

"Rocket to Nebula 6" shows a darker aspect to the band and has a more oppressive atmosphere.

"Juggernaut", with it's driving rhythms and heavy sound really lives up to it's name. It definitely reaches the same dizzy heights as "Sixwheeler" and "Another One Down".

The CD (I'm not sure if I should refer to it as an album or an EP) closes with a track that leads me to draw many a Motorhead comparison (in a bloody good way, of course!) - "Hangman II". Just have a listen to it and, hopefully, you'll see what I mean.

In conclusion this CD rocks. I would dress it up with some long words and intelligent phrases, but there really is no point. The music here is to the point (and each song is relatively short so you'll never get bored!), so I should write a review that's also to the point...

"Adding Fuel to the Fire" won't change your life. It won't make you more attractive to the opposite sex, nor will it improve your bank balance. Instead it will provide you with 7 songs to rock you heart out to... and what a great set of songs they are! So, throw this CD on, grab a beer and bang your head.

Interessante primo full-lenght da parte dei bolzanini Slowtorch, band in circolazione dal 2005 sotto il nome di Godmachine. La proposta dell'affiatatissimo quartetto è uno stoner rock imbastardito e sudato all'inversosimile, metallizzato a dovere e che nel giro di venti minuti scarsi condensa tutto quanto ha da proporci, sparandocelo dritto sui denti senza troppi complimenti.
Se nella bellissima "Rocket To Nebula" abbiamo a che fare con dello stoner senza compromessi, è nelle restanti tracce che la band sa districarsi in un continuo gioco di disintegrazione e ricomposizione delle proprie influenze, che vanno dai Kyuss ai Black Sabbath, dai Motorhead agli Entombed, il tutto unito a quella componente thrash metal che altro non fa che "gettare benzina sul fuoco" (come da titolo, of course). Micidiale il tiro di "Another One Down", dove alcune soluzioni chitarristiche possono ricordare addirittura i Pantera. "Roadkill" è pura follia adrenalinica imbevuta di metal e southern rock, davvero devastante. In "Sixwheeler" sembra di ascoltare gli Orange Goblin flirtare con i Goatsnake, e il risultato è da lasciare letteralmente senza fiato. Aspra e dalle ritmiche squadrate "Juggernaut" che procede speditamente ma senza dimenticare di ammiccare furtivamente ai Black Sabbath di Vol. 4.
Come avrete certamente notato non è affatto facile stabilire a quali correnti in particolare i nostri si rifacciano, vista la notevole eterogeneità di influenze che i Slowtorch sanno mescolare a dovere. C'è comunque da dire che nel complesso l'album risulta davvero piacevole a livello compositivo e frizzante all'ascolto; forse alcune piccole sbavature ne inficiano il giudizio complessivo, che comunque rimane indubbiamente positivo.

Taking a look at the metal bands from Italy, one finds plenty of power/symphonic metal, some gothic, black, and death metal as well, but practically nothing in the realm of stoner rock. Enter Slowtorch, whose Adding Fuel To Fire is a gritty, dirty, heavy rock album, more straight metallic than the psychedelica of many stoner bands, something like what Kyuss used to do very early in their career. Short and to the point (really, this is more an EP than a full album), Fuel might be the start of something interesting.

On “Adding Fuel To Fire”, they come over as very genuine and natural. There are influences of rock’n’roll and stoner rock, they sound a bit like Kyuss at times, with the occasional hint at more extreme music, worthy of being compared to the late 1990’s Entombed. [Their] adrenaline-driven guitar work and overall biker feel dominate, most of all on tracks like “Another One Down”. What comes to mind is a crazy trip across the States, your ass on a good old Harley Davidson and bottle of beer in your hand. Slowtorch take you down the direct route (see Hangman 11), their style and attitude are those of a southern rock band, but with a twist – they add that special pinch of heavy metal insolence for even more fun…definitely worth your attention!

Italian: Questo mese iniziamo dal Nord Italia, precisamente città di Bolzano dove troviamo gli SLOWTORCH (sito internet www.slowtorch.com oppure myspace.com/slowtorch [...]) che in questo „Adding fuel To Fire“ si presentano in maniera molto genuina e umana. Nella loro proposta i Nostri incastrano rock’n’roll, stoner e a fasi alterne assomigliano ai Kyuss, con picchi estremi degni degli Entombed di fine anni ’90. [L]’adrenalina delle chitarre e lo spirito da biker prende il sopravvento in brani come „Another One Down“. L’immaginario è quello folle di una corsa con una bella Harley Davidson sotto le chiappe, bottiglia di birra e attraversamento dell’America. Con gli Slowtorch si va dritti verso la meta (Hangman 11) con la stessa ignoranza e attitudine di una qualsiasi band di southern rock che, però, utilizza la sfacciataggine metallara per divertirsi ancora di più...un lavoro che merita attenzioni!

SLOWTORCH - "Adding Fuel To Fire"
Dopo anni di gavetta, gli stoner-rockers Slowtorch sono arrivati al loro primo full-lenght. Prodotto dagli Slowtorch stessi insieme a BeatEatBeat, "Adding Fuel To Fire" si pone come la summa del sound del gruppo dal 2005 al 2007: un caldissimo stoner-rock (che dal vivo aumenta di velocità tanto da sfiorare lidi thrashosi) non identificabile con nessun gruppo in circolazione. Nessun paragone con i padrini Kyuss ne con la ciurma stoner del 2000, i numi tutelari del gruppo risiedono in rielaborazioni personali di molteplici influenze, fra cui spiccano, sicuramente, i Clutch, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, qualcosa dei Motorhead e decisamente molto Slowtorch-sound.
Elemento trainante è la chitarra ritmica di Bruno, calda e groovy, che mette sul piatto serie di riff all'arma bianca, seguito dal basso di Skan che rafforza le ritmiche di Bruno ma tenendo un'occhio ad aumentare il peso specifico di ogni composizione. La sezione ritmica quadrata e "grassa" (fornita dallo stesso Skan e da Andrea, abile nel mettere parti di doppia senza esagerare e fornire un supporto intelligente e propositivo) fa da puntello alla prova di Peter alla voce (roca e ad alto contenuto di whiskey, con rimandi a gente come James Hetfield e, straordinariamente su un disco come questo, ad un certo Lars Goran Petrov nel periodo "alternative" degli Entombed).
Mossa coraggiosa non affidarsi al loro singolo di successo, ma ormai usurato dalle continue ripetizioni di (Go Down In) Style, "Adding Fuel To Fire" comprime lo stoner in un'unica traccia ("Rocket to Nebula 6"), il resto invece si sposta su coordinate più personali (la sabbathiana "Juggernaut"), la veloce "Hangman 11", le tracce più groovy come "Another One Down", "Roadkill" (veramente una traccia killer), "Sixwheeler" e "Dirt Track". Menzione d'onore al notevolissimo artwork!

GIUDIZIO:
Gli Slowtorch escono allo scoperto con un primo disco che, pur avendo leggere sbavature, propone il gruppo come uno delle band da seguire nel futuro. Il sound è originale (e questo, per un primo disco, è veramente difficile da trovare e perciò ancora più apprezzabile) e le canzoni sono tutte potenti e con una precisa identità. In alto le birre, gli Slowtorch arrivano.

SLOWTORCH - "Adding Fuel To Fire"
Titolo più che azzeccato quello di questo non troppo esteso album (22 minuti e poco più) dei metallarissimi Slowtorch. Basta infatti il primo pezzo di "Adding Fuel to Fire" per sentirsi crescere rapidamente capelli e pizzo - e un po' di girovita da birra, ovviamente - e ritrovarsi a roteare la testa con il gesto rock per eccellenza (presente le corna fatte all'arbitro? sì che avete presente...). Il disco è composto da sette cavalcate tese e massicce, che ondeggiando fra il metal classico caratteristico del decennio scorso - quello dai riff belli grassi e dalla voce ruvida e incazzata, questo è appunto METAL, mica roba da eunuchi - e derive più vicine allo stoner, velocemente ci porta a volere subito un'altra media, a rimpiangere di aver buttato nel cassonetto gli stivali da biker "che tanto non li mettevo mai", a mettere un teschio come pomello della leva del cambio, a ingranare la prima e lanciarci attraverso il deserto, sicuri di incontrare i nostri demoni e sconfiggerli semplicemente alzando il volume delle chitarre. Unico appunto, una produzione che avrebbe potuto essere un poco più curata, ché se un filo di sound un pò "verace" non fa mai troppo male, una maggiore cura avrebbe potuto far risaltare al meglio la potenza di questa già muscolosa band.

SLOWTORCH - "Adding Fuel To Fire"
The package is supposed to include two things, namely the record and the t-shirt. Unfortunately, some idiot from the post-office decided to own the second one. In the broken envelope there was only a CD left – the debut EP by Italian stoners from Slowtorch. Before the music starts, let’s give our regards to the cover art. I hope that the guys will tighten their friendship with the designer (Godmachine) and on the future rekeases there will be the same characteristic graphic s t y l e. But even Picasso on the front cover and Armani in the promo package won’t be any rescue, if the album is bad. Luckilly, “Adding Fuel To Fire” is really cool. The disc’s content takes us to a journey by the vehicle, that likes the dusty roads and consumes the hell lot of fuel. For the present it’s the prototype, which needs a couple of corrections, but it goes forward very well. Seven short songs elapse quite fast and the listener won’t have any secure to play them again. There are three main associations on my mind: Scissorfight, Clutch and Orange Goblin. I suppose it’s enough to encourage the person, who enjoys the one and only righteous music, that is heavy and dirty rock & roll. I haven’t noticed any intensive similarities to southern s t y l e, which is good because the majority of bands referring to that genre sound similar and boring. As an honest man, I must point out the disadvantages of Slowtorch’s music. My friend said that they sound as if they were on a diet. I’d rather say, that they don’t have enough courage to play louder, more raw and obscure. Who knows? Maybe they must temper themselves with a couple of tours. Maybe then the consumed substances will spill on the more massive sound. That’s what I’d like to hear the most. It’s not a radio-friendly music anyway, so why not give their songs more heaviness and intensity. That’s what I’d like to find on their next release. I’m sure I’ll buy it.

Formirani su 2004-e godine pod nazivom Godmachine kao kvintet u postavi. U to vreme su objavili i jedan Demo naziva "Generator". Kasnije menjaju ime u sadasnje - Slowtorch i nakon odredjenih personalnih promena krecu sa nastupima po severnoj Italiji. 2006-e godine objavljuju promo CD "Scrap Metal & Oil Stains", a tokom prosle godine i full-length "Adding Fuel To Fire". Iako su svoju muziku nazvali kao stoner metal, cini mi se ,da bi se njihov pristup realisticnije mogao tretirati kao neka varijanta heavy/stonera.Zvuk je baziran na intersantnom i originalnom tretiranju gitarskih resenja lidera postave Bruna Bassija, kao i narativnom vodjenju vokalnih deonica. Slowtorch nisu toliko orijentisani ka melodicnosti, njihov pristup je vise verziran ka izvodjackoj koheziji i generalno aranzmanskoj intuitivnosti. Dodao bih takodje, da na pojedinim mestima autorska resenja znaju da izadju iz forme pomenutih heavy/stoner elemenata. "Adding Fuel To Fire" sadrzi 7 numera bliskih po pristupu i psihologiji.

They were formed back in 2004 as a GODMACHINE with 5 members in formation. In those days they released a Demo, entitled "Generator". Later changed name in Slowtorch, and after some personal changes, started to introduce their capabilities to audience mainly in Northern Italy. Also in 2006, they offered a promo CD "Scrap Metal And Oil Stains", and finally, full- length "Adding Fuel To Fire" looked a light of day in previous 2007 year. Even that band labelled their music as a stoner metal, it seems that their approach is nearer to one variant of heavy/stoner. Their sound characterize an interesting and original thereathenings of guitars creations, made by leader Bruno Bassi, and also a narrative approach of vocalizations in general.Slowtorch aren' t orientire to melodicity too much, but their approach logically posses performings capabilities, and arrangments intuitivities. I would add, that in some places, authors elements knows to go outside mentioned genre's forms. "Adding Fuel To Fire" are consists of 7 tracks in, similiar in general conceptions, as same as in psychology.

ROCK AND A HARD PLACE (USA), 02/2008:

SLOWTORCH - "Adding Fuel To The Fire" - 2007
One doesn't usually think of Italy when talking about the Stoner Metal movement, but perhaps they should if more bands like Slowtorch start popping up. These guys fit right in with bands like Cathedral, Zeke, Dozer, Electric Frankenstien, Ironboss, Black Label Society, Entombed and Motorhead. I don't completely like the term "Stoner" for them as they lean more towards the "Metal", especially in the guitar. Bruno Bassi plays a more Metal style and is really the backbone of the band. There's also a fair share of double-bass going on and the songs are uptempo which again separates them from the "Doom" style. I personally prefer this side of the "Stoner" genre. Slowtorch would go over great at a bike ralley like "Sturgis" with songs like "Dirt Track", "Sixwheeler" and "Another One Down". I'd be very surprised if we don't hear more about this band in the future, hopefully being from Italy will have caused them to be overlooked.

SLOWTORCH - "Adding Fuel To The Fire" - 2007
A l'image d'un bon film américain où vous vous trouverez sur une route désèrte en Arizona, ce "Adding Fuel To Fire" ne transpire pas le Chanel n°5 et ne porte pas de dessous chic. L'atmosphere d'un desert à la chaleur suffocante, du sable a perte de vue et du goudron brulant suinte de ce disque autant que la bière et la sueur lors d'un concert de Crowbar ! On imagine aisément les membres de Slowtorch issue de l'Amerique aux Harley Davidson et aux gros 4x4 poluants à l'écoute de ce premier album. Et pourtant c'est dans le pays des pizzas qu'a vu le jour ce joyeux groupe de stoner burné comme un pompiste de station d'autoroute . Fuzz, riffs bluesy et catchy à souhait sont dans la caisse a outil de ce combo Italien qui ne compte pas sur la hausse du prix du carburant pour rouler en sous-régime. Des compos bien ciselées qui ne dépassent pas les 4minutes30, gallopants sereinement a travers les plaines arides déjà arpentées par Clutch, Kyuss et consorts; des musiciens qui connaissent la bonne mecanique et qui ne se branlent pas sur Black Sabbath à l'arrière de leur camion comme la plupart des eternels routards du sludge. Une halte au bistrot et c'est reparti, le voyage ne fut pas aussi abrasif qu'un Ramesses sous prozac (dommage que l'échappement ne petarade pas plus fort) Mais ces 7 étapes en 22 minutes sans ravitaillement valent plus que le plus long des Paris/Dakar. Car ici Slowtorch est sacrément bien cylindré et n'est pas pret de tomber en panne d'essence !

In uscita il nuovo album della band sudtirolese «Slowtorch»
Arriva «Adding fuel to fire»
Rivive il rock anni Settanta
BOLZANO — Il disco di debutto della stoner-rock band degli Slowtorch ci dà l’occasione per salutare il ritorno della Blindness Records (che in passato ci ha rilasciato originali prodotti come i dischi di Still Blind, Wc, Klakson, Mauro Franceschi o il disco in vinile dei Godzilla Intermezzo). Si tratta di un debutto discografico a marce ridotte, nel senso che si tratta di un mini cd composto da sette tracce, tutte incentrate su ritmi ossessivi e dichiaratamente di ispirazione seventies. D’altra parte il cosiddetto genere stoner (termine coniato dalla rivista americana Rolling Stone all’inizio del millennio) si rifà dichiaratamente a certi stilemi del rock degli anni settanta, per la precisione quel filone dell’hard rock che ha avuto i suoi più titolati rappresentanti in Black Sabbath e Metallica e che vede i suoi alfieri attuali in Kyuss e Queens Of The Stone Age. Gli Slowtorch sono un quartetto altoatesino nato nel 2004 col nome di Godmachine: dopo aver assestato la line up, nel settembre del 2005 hanno mutato il nome e hanno cominciato la loro nuova avventura. Il primo anno di vita del gruppo è stato caratterizzato dal rapporto poco costruttivo con la locale Morgana Records, per la quale hanno inciso poche cose finite su compilation. La risoluzione del contratto li ha portati nelle scorse settimane a pubblicare questo disco, intitolato «Adding Fuel To Fire», buttando benzina sul fuoco. E il titolo sembra davvero essere azzeccatissimo visto il potenziale incendiario della musica di questi ragazzi. Voce, chitarra, basso e batteria: la ricetta è vecchia ma funziona sempre. Se nel brano «Dirt Track» la base ritmica sembra dominare ossessivamente, nella successiva «Roadkill» a guidare è l’incedere quasi da marcia trionfale della chitarra. «Sixwheeler» conta anche su un andamento spedito a cui fa da corollario un bel solista di chitarra finale. «Rocket To Nebula 6» e «Juggernaut» denotano una passione per la fantascienza. In attesa del party di presentazione del disco che si terrà a settembre, il 30 agosto prossimo gli Slowtorch si esibiranno a Leeds, in Inghilterra al Royal Park Cellars.

Appena uscito il disco della band bolzanina. «Abbiamo cambiato sound»
«Slowtorch», metallo pesante Nuovo cd e tour in Inghilterra
BOLZANO — La band bolzanina degli Slowtorch ha appena licenziato per la «Morgana Records» un nuovo disco, «Adding Fuel To Fire». Accolto da lusinghiere recensioni della stampa specializzata, l'album contiene 7 brani, ed stato registrato tra il 2006 e il 2007. Il Cd era finito già in febbraio con tanto di copertina creata dall'artista londinese «Godmachine» (che casualmente è il nome precedente della band) mentre da febbraio a luglio, è stata preparata l'uscita. Abbiamo intervistato i membri del gruppo (Peter Tomasi, voce; Bruno Bassi, chitarra; Karl sandner, basso; Andrea Masetti, batteria), che partito da Bolzano è arrivato a fare da spalla a Nick Oliveri e agli Ill Niño. Quali le differenze rispetto ai dischi precedenti?
«Ogni gruppo si sviluppa con il tempo. Rispetto al nostro primo demo "Generator", c'è più groove, i pezzi sono più strutturati e il suono più grezzo, più rock. Il modo di comporre è cambiato molto, soprattutto nell'ultimo anno: abbiamo ormai una buona line- up fissa e collaboriamo tutti».
Quali sono le vostre influenze?
«Black Sabbath, Entombed, Orange Goblin, Down, Corrosion of Conformity, Black Label Society... Ascoltiamo di tutto anche se in linea di massima si va dallo stoner al metal estremo. Nel panorama italiano molto settario, dove ognuno disprezza ciò che non gli piace, riusciamo a sfruttare le differenze per creare un sound personale».
Sono previsti concerti di presentazione?
«Naturalmente - abbiamo organizzato una serie di gig in Inghilterra a partire da fine agosto anche se il release party è fissato per il 29 settembre ».
Come è il vostro rapporto con l'estero?
«La cultura musicale all'estero presta più attenzione al nostro genere, Germania, Olanda, Austria, Inghilterra... La risposta del pubblico lo conferma, tanto da convincere un'agenzia di booking berlinese ad accoglierci nel loro roster».
E con Bolzano?
«È un rapporto di odio-amore. La città ormai può andare bene per fare pratica. Se si vuole mirare più in alto bisogna andare altrove. La prevalenza di gruppi metalcore e hardcore, generi che vanno di moda al momento, non è un vantaggio per chi, più che alla tendenza, guarda alla qualità della proposta».
La stampa specializzata sta già recensendo il nuovo lavoro...
«Sì, i risultati ci sono stati. „Adding fuel to fire“ ist das offizielle Debüt der Bozner Stoner-Band „Slowtorch“.
Es ist Hochsommer, und wer nicht arbeitet, liegt entweder im Lido und lässt sich bräunen oder ist ganz generell im Urlaub und auch physisch in einer anderen Welt. „Slowtorch“, eine Bozner Metalband, hat sich demnach zumindest auf den ersten Blick einen denkbar ungünstigen Zeitpunkt ausgewählt, um ihre Debüt-CD zu veröffentlichen. Dass der offizielle Veröffentlichungstermin nun auf Freitag, den 13. Juli, fällt, ist weniger schlimm, als wenn er für September oder Oktober angesetzt würde, ein Zeitraum, in dem traditionellerweise eine wahre CD-Schwemme hereinbricht. Wenn die offizielle Release- Party, die Fete, bei der die CD im engeren Kreis der Fans vorgestellt wird, auch auf Ende September angesetzt wurde, so haben „Slowtorch“ zumindest einen theoretischen Vorsprung. Bis zum Frühherbst bleibt genügend Zeit, die CDs an Plattenlabels, Presse und Livelokale zu verschicken, um an Konzerte zu kommen und die Maschine „Slowtorch“ auf eine etwas breitere Straße zu lenken. Der Titel der CD, „Adding fuel to fire“, lässt sich sehr gut mit „Benzin ins Feuer gießen“ übersetzen und passt ausgezeichnet zum Stil, dem „Slowtorch“ zugeordnet werden müssen. „Stoner- Rock“ ist freilich keine eindimensionale Musikrichtung, denn sie reicht von der harten Rockmusik, wie sie in den Siebzigerjahren typisch war, über langsamen Doom-Metal à la „Black Sabbath“ bis hin zu dreckigem, nach Südstaaten riechendem Rock‘n‘Roll. „Slowtorch“ haben sich für die Rock‘n‘Roll-Variante entschieden, denn obwohl die Songs genretypisch auf den Riffs der Gitarre basieren, sind sie, wie „Hangman 11“ vielleicht am besten belegt, in einer angezogenen Geschwindigkeit gehalten. Die Songs dieser CD sind zwischen August 2006 und Jänner 2007 unter der technischen Leitung von Andrea „Pola“ Polato in Bozen entstanden. „Wir haben uns Zeit gelassen, deswegen hat es etwas gedauert“, meint Bruno Bassi, der diese Band Anfang 2004 ins Leben gerufen hat. Es hat nicht nur mit der Produktion dieser CD „etwas gedauert“, sondern auch damit, ein festes Line-up für die Band zu finden, das nach einigen Wechseln am Schlagzeug und am Bass seit einem guten halben Jahr endlich feststeht und funktioniert: Bruno Bassi (Gitarre), Peter Tomasi (Stimme), Karl Sandner (Bass) und Andrea Masetti (Schlagzeug). Dass diese Formation auch wirklich funktioniert, ersieht man daran, dass die Band parallel zu den Aufnahmen an neuem Material gearbeitet hat und mittlerweile wieder genügend Songs für eine Nachfolge-CD in der Tasche hat, die im Idealfall über ein größeres Label erscheinen könnte (oder sollte). „Adding fuel to fire“ ist für 10 Euro bei „Disco New“ in Bozen käuflich erhältlich, wird in naher Zukunft aber auch über die Internet-Dienste www.coart- music.com (Deutschland) und www.cdbaby.com (USA) erhältlich sein. „Slowtorch“ sind im Moment vor allem damit beschäftigt, ihr Debüt auf der musikalischen Landkarte zu platzieren und sich für die Herbst-Winter- Saison Auftrittsmöglichkeit vor allem außerhalb Südtirols zu suchen. Neben der vorliegenden 7-Track-CD stehen dennoch noch einige weitere Dinge fest: In der zweiten Augusthälfte steht ein Live-Abstecher nach England fest und, wie erwähnt, werden „Slowtorch“ am Samstag, 29. September, unterstützt von zwei befreundeten Metalbands, „Adding fuel to fire“ im „Bunker“ in Bozen live präsentieren. Reinhold Giovanett
